Airbus A320 recall — global fleet grounding & wide-scale delays
Airbus has issued a massive recall of about 6,000 A320-family aircraft (over half the global fleet) after a software/flight-control issue, triggered by a mid-air incident involving a sudden altitude drop on a plane earlier this year.
As a precaution, regulators ordered the affected aircraft to revert to an older, safer software version (or hardware updates where needed) before they can fly again.
The impact is sweeping: major airlines around the world are facing cancellations and delays — some flights grounded temporarily.
The disruption comes at a particularly bad time: high travel demand globally (holidays), and maintenance/repair facilities already under strain.
Volcanic-ash disruption from volcanic eruption in Ethiopia — affecting India and Gulf routes
A recent eruption of the Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia sent ash plumes thousands of metres high. The ash cloud drifted across air-routes connecting India and Gulf/Middle East, causing disruptions.
In response, several Indian carriers like Akasa Air cancelled flights to Gulf destinations (e.g. Jeddah, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi) for 24–25 November.
Air India also cancelled a number of flights — both international and domestic — as a precaution, and rerouted or grounded planes that may have passed through ash-affected airspace.
Aviation authorities have issued advisories: airlines are closely monitoring ash movements, using satellite and meteorological data, and passengers are urged to check flight status before travelling.
Technical glitch at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi — massive delays and cancellations
On 7-8 November 2025, the airport’s Air Traffic Control messaging system (AMSS) suffered a technical malfunction, disrupting flight-planning operations.
That disruption caused chaos — more than 800 flights delayed, and at least 20 flights cancelled.
After the problem was resolved, operations returned to normal around a day later — but for affected travellers, the delays were significant and inconvenient.
