What happened: Aditya built an AI-Robot Teacher “Sophie”?

Aditya is a 17-year-old Class 12 student at Shiv Charan Inter College, located in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

He has created an AI-powered teaching robot — named Sophie — which he claims can act as a substitute when a teacher is absent.

According to reports, the cost of building Sophie was around ₹25,000.

🛠️ How Sophie Works — The Technology & Features:

Sophie uses an LLM chipset (large language model chipset) — similar in concept to what many advanced AI/robotics companies use.

Currently, Sophie functions as a voice-based assistant: she answers students’ questions in Hindi — for example about general knowledge, basic arithmetic or facts (e.g. “Who was India’s first President?”, “What is electricity?”, “100 + 92 = ?”)

Sophie is designed to resemble a traditional teacher: in the classroom/video, she appears like a woman teacher, wearing a saree — which apparently makes the experience more familiar and acceptable for students.

The creator, Aditya, says that although Sophie currently only speaks and answers questions, he is working to further develop it — possibly to make it capable of writing or more interactive teaching.

🎯 Significance — Why This Matters?

This innovation shows that low-cost, student-led AI experiments are starting to move from science-fair style projects into real school/classroom environments, especially useful in Hindi-speaking/rural areas where mainstream AI tools (often English-first) may not be accessible.

For schools — especially where teacher-availability is inconsistent — such a robot could serve as a backup teacher, helping maintain continuity of classes when a human teacher is absent.

It also highlights possibilities in democratizing education via technology: young innovators with limited resources (in this case ≈ ₹25,000) building solutions that may benefit many. This could especially impact rural or under-resourced schools.
