India secured a landmark achievement in blind cricket by lifting the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup title. The team clinched the trophy with a dominant seven-wicket win over Nepal in the final at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on November 23, 2025.
After choosing to bowl first, India restricted Nepal to 114/5. The chase was handled confidently, with India reaching 117/3 in just 12 overs, sealing the championship in style.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team on Monday (November 24, 2025), highlighting their extraordinary performance throughout the tournament. In a post on X, he wrote that the team’s success “is a shining example of hard work, teamwork, and determination,” and applauded them for remaining undefeated in the entire event.
Modi added that each player had shown exceptional spirit and that this victory would motivate countless young athletes across the nation in the coming years.
During the league stage, India outplayed teams from Sri Lanka, Australia, Nepal, USA, and Pakistan. The side then defeated Australia again in the semi-final to book their finals berth.
This first-of-its-kind tournament was jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with several matches also played in Delhi and Bengaluru.
Blind cricket is played by teams of eleven, using a special white plastic ball filled with ball bearings. The rattling sound helps players track the ball during play, making the sport both challenging and inspiring.
