The event is part of the 550th anniversary celebrations of the historic Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, one of the oldest spiritual centers of the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. Along with the statue, a Ramayana Theme Park was also inaugurated.
Thousands of devotees and tourists are expected to visit the site daily, making it a major new cultural and pilgrimage destination in Goa.
Along with the statue unveiling, the Mutt is inaugurating a new Ramayana Theme Park / garden — part of efforts to make the place a pilgrimage and cultural-heritage destination.
Additionally, a commemorative postal stamp and coin have been released to mark the 550-year milestone of the Mutt.
The event is expected to draw a large influx of visitors — 7,000 to 10,000 devotees/visitors daily during the celebration period (Nov 27–Dec 7). The Mutt premises has been refurbished to handle the increased footfall.
Distinguished dignitaries are expected to attend: apart from PM Modi, the guest list includes the state’s Governor, Chief Minister, Union Ministers and state-level cabinet members.
The unveiling isn’t just about a statue — it’s part of a broader celebration and development tied to heritage, culture, and tourism:
As part of the 550-year celebrations of the Mutt (called “Sardha Panchashatamanotsava”), multiple programmes are scheduled from 27 November to 7 December 2025.
Along with the statue, a new Ramayana Theme Park / garden developed by the Mutt was inaugurated — aimed at promoting cultural heritage and attracting pilgrims / tourists.
To mark the occasion, a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin were to be released — signalling the significance of the Mutt’s 550-year legacy.
The Mutt premises have been refurbished and modernised (while preserving spiritual heritage) to handle expected large footfall — organisers expect 7,000 to 10,000 visitors each day during the celebration period.
