CYCLONE SENYAR LIVE TRACKER: STORM TO CROSS INDONESIA TODAY; IMD CLARIFIES IMPACT ON INDIA

Cyclone Senyar LIVE Updates: The weather disturbance forming near the Strait of Malacca, close to Malaysia, has intensified into a depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed on Tuesday. The system is moving westward and is expected to strengthen into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday afternoon.

The emerging storm may trigger strong winds and heavy rainfall across regions bordering the Andaman Sea. Southern states—including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands—are likely to receive significant showers.

When will it turn into a cyclone?
The depression is projected to intensify and officially become Cyclone Senyar on November 26.

Why the name ‘Senyar’?
The name was contributed by the United Arab Emirates and means “lion.” It is the next designated name for cyclones in the North Indian Ocean region.

IMD Forecast:
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands till November 28. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are also likely to experience moderate to heavy showers between November 23 and 25, according to IMD.
