What Rahul Gandhi Actually Said ??

1. Constitution as a Sacred Promise

He described the Constitution as “not just a book; it is a sacred promise made to every citizen of the country.”

According to him, this promise ensures that “no matter what religion or caste one belongs to, what region one comes from, what language one speaks, whether poor or rich, one will receive equality, respect, and justice.”

2. Protective Shield for the Poor and Deprived

He emphasized that the Constitution is the “protective shield of the poor and the deprived, their strength, and the voice of every citizen.”

He said that as long as the Constitution is upheld, “the rights of every Indian are protected.”

3. Call to Pledge Against Assaults

Gandhi urged people to pledge that “we will not allow any attack on the Constitution.”

He personally committed to being “the first to stand up against any attack” on it.

4. Defending Core Principles

He stressed the need to protect the fundamental values enshrined in the Constitution — justice, equality, freedom, brotherhood, secularism, and socialism.

According to him, a strong Constitution means a stronger India: “The stronger it is, the stronger our country will be.”

5. Tribute to the Makers

He paid homage to the framers of the Constitution — the members of the Constituent Assembly — calling them “fighters, martyrs” whose vision must be protected.

He emphasized that upholding the Constitution is not just symbolic; it's a duty to preserve the “ethos” and spirit behind it.

His statement echoed the stance of other opposition leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, who reminded people that the core constitutional values — justice, equality, liberty, fraternity, secularism, socialism — must be defended.

The call came at a time when opposition leaders expressed concern over what they view as “attacks on constitutional principles” by the current government.
