DEC 4TH - NAVY DAY SPECIAL:

On Navy Day 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to all personnel of the Indian Navy. He lauded the naval forces for their “exceptional courage and determination,” saying the Navy continues to “safeguard our shores and uphold our maritime interests.”

He emphasized that in recent years, the Navy has focused strongly on self-reliance and modernisation — a transformation that, according to him, has significantly enhanced India’s security apparatus.

Modi also highlighted a personal and symbolic moment from this year: he celebrated Diwali aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant with naval personnel. He described the sight of the vast ocean beside the carrier as “extraordinary,” underscoring his deep respect and solidarity with those serving in the Navy.

Pointing to the broader purpose of India's naval strength, Modi said that the Navy’s capabilities aren’t meant only for warfare or defence. Rather, they represent India’s commitment to ensuring the safety of maritime trade, protecting maritime boundaries, and contributing to global peace — especially in a world where seas connect economies and communities.

This message arrives at a time when the Indian Navy is visibly expanding and modernising. According to recent reports, the Navy has commissioned several advanced ships and submarines, and multiple more are under construction — reflecting a long-term strategy of enhancing maritime capability and self-reliance.

By praising the Navy’s “steadfast resolve” and “valour,” and by highlighting both the symbolic festival-time visit to INS Vikrant and the practical importance of a powerful navy for national security and global maritime stability, PM Modi’s address underlines how central the Navy is to India’s vision for defence, sovereignty, and international responsibility.

2025 Celebrations & Operational Demonstration:

This year, the Navy Day celebrations include a grand operational demonstration by the Indian Navy off the coast of Kerala — at Shangumugham Beach, Thiruvananthapuram.

The demonstration will showcase ships, submarines, aircraft, and special forces — highlighting the Navy’s multi-domain capabilities and readiness.

The event is expected to be attended by Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

This public showcase underscores the Navy’s readiness and India's commitment to a “combat-ready, cohesive, credible and Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant)” naval force.
